Ondo Election: Lawrence Ewhrudjakpo Heads PDP Election Committee

Peoples Democratic Party(PDP) has appointed the Deputy Governor of Bayelsa State, Lawrence Ewhrudjakpo, to head the seven-member governorship primary election committee, The Courage.

According to a statement by the state publicity secretary, Kennedy Peretei on Wednesday, 627 delegates would participate in the primary election on Thursday.

The leadership of the PDP had settled for indirect primary in which only the 627 delegates will elect the party’s flag-bearer for the November 16, 2024 governorship election.

According to Peretei, seven governorship aspirants were cleared by the Senator Sam Egwu screening committee to participate in the primary election.

He explained that the 627 delegates were selected from the 18 local government areas of the state.

The statement reads in parts: “The Ondo State Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Governorship Primary Election, scheduled for Thursday, 25th April, 2024 will be conducted by a 7-man Primary Election Committee, headed by Bayelsa State Deputy Governor, His Excellency, Lawrence Ewhrudjakpo.

“Seven aspirants were cleared by the Senator Sam Egwu Screening Committee to participate in the primary election.


“The International Culture and Events Centre (The Dome), Akure is the venue for the exercise. A total of 627 Delegates from the 18 Local Government Areas of the State are expected to elect the standard bearer of the party for the November 16, 2024 Governorship election.

“Accreditation of delegates will commence at 10:00am. All those who are not Delegates or have no business at the venue are advised to keep a reasonable distance from the arena.”
